Asarum caulescens (wild ginger) - 「葵」 in Japanese.
The Aoi mon is, with the imperial chrysanthemum mon, the most famous emblem in Japan, being the mark of the Tokugawa shoguns. There are many conflicting stories about who first created and used this kamon, but it is often said that the Matsudaira (who would later become Tokugawa, with Ieyasu) designed it after the Tachi Aoi mon of the Honda.
There are about 200 known variations of the Aoi emblem.
Kamon 1
Tokugawa Aoi.
There is actually not one, but several Tokugawa Aoi mon. The overall design remains the same, but throughout the Edo period, Tokugawa shoguns used a different number of stripes on the asarum leaves. Ieyasu, the first shogun, had a great number of stripes (33) on each leaf. The Aoi-gomon design subsequently became more and more minimal and the last shogun Tokugawa Yoshinobu used a 13-stripe Aoi (as presented here).Kamon 2
Honda Tachi Aoi (Honda's standing aoi).
The standing Aoi mon of the Honda clan, which design (it is said) served as a base for the Tokugawa Aoi.
How to Order - Service Description-
Select your Kamon size
1.5 cm fits on all weapons and is fairly small for a Kamon. We recommend this size only for Kamon with few details. Fits all weapons, including 24 mm Jo.
2 cm can be considered as standard. It fits on most weapons, except on the thinnest weapons such as the 24 mm Jo.
2.5 cm is fairly big and will not fit on thin Koryu Bokken, Tanto, Bo, Hanbo, and Jo.
If the selected size is too big for the ordered weapon, the Kamon will be adapted to the maximum engravable size. - Select your Kamon design

One Kamon = One engraving. For more than one engraving, add the Kamon as many time as desired with the correct options.
